    WHAT THIS PAGE IS FOR

This page is an attempt to centralize all information on Lush's videos, TV appearances, and live shows. It is also the home page for my unofficial non-profit video compilations. Check up here from time to time if you are interested in obtaining updated information on them. Please note: I do not sell copies of them; I will however trade for them. (For information on trading, please click on the word Trading at the top of this page so you can read how to trade with me.)

PLEASE let me know if you have any video material that I don't - I'd like to make these compilations as complete as possible.

    NEWS & MESSAGES

Interested in getting copies of my video compilations? Please read the Trading page first to find out how.

ANOTHER NEW SITE - Eric S. has launched a site focusing on the live aspect of Lush. Check out www.LushLive.com.

NEW WEBSITE - Bill S. has launched a very thorough and well-organized Lush website. Check it out at www.LightFromADeadStar.org.

NEW LIVE VIDEO INFO - Bill S. from Virginia has compiled some information on a few live videos I didn't know about. See the Live Videos section below. Thanks for the info, Bill!

NEW YAHOO GROUP - Jen G. from England has started a Lush group featuring an impressive and well-organized photo collection. Visit it (and then join!) by clicking here.

IT'S THE DOME - Emma noted that a segment on my first compilation was incorrectly identified as SNUB-TV. It's the segment with "Ocean" and part of "Sweetness And Light" performed live. With the kind help from Brian in Australia, the segment has been identified as "Live At The Dome" which was indeed shot at the Kilburn in London. It aired on May 3rd, 1991.

VENTURE INTO THE STRATOSPHERE - Fellow Lush fan and all-around cool person Jen D. has started an online fanzine with some Lush content. It also features review, pictures and personal interviews with other artists you might also like. Check out her Stratosphere fanzine Yahoo Group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Stratosphere_Fanzine. Look into the second group too!

VOLUME 3 AVAILABLE - I have a limited number of copies available for trade. This is the third and final installment of the Lush Video Compilations. Next I will be making segments that weren't compilation-worthy into downloadable MPEG clips for you to enjoy. I am also exploring an DVD option in NTSC format. Remember, this is NOT FOR PROFIT! Want to trade? It's easy -- follow the links above.

DESIRE LINES FRAME GRABS - View some video stills here of the holy grail of Lush videos, "Desire Lines". (Why didn't MTV ever show this video? Canada's MuchMusic did...)

DISCOGRAPHY - The latest version is located here.

GIGOGRAPHY - For a semi-complete list of Lush's tours, click here

LET'S PUT IN ON DISC! - If you have any decent videos that I don't have that you'd like transferred at no cost to DVD -- or any complete soundboard/FM shows that I don't have that you'd like transferred to audio CD (with track markers) -- let me know and we'll see if we can arrange something.

    MISSION STATEMENT

In early 1998, I found out about the RIAA cracking down on "piraters" of CDs and videotapes. After talking with a few people, and trying to look at it from all angles, I've decided to get back into trading again. Here's why:

  • None of the videos on these tapes are commercially available. That is, you can't go to a store and purchase copies of any of them. The only exception is "Superblast!" on the 13 Year Itch video, which I think was commercially available, but it is impossible to find here in the United States.
  • Lush are broken up now. Now what is the chance that a home video will be released of their video material? Even less likely than before.
  • Even if 4AD, Warner, or Reprise were to release a commercial video, 1) they would most likely not have all of the TV appearances that I have on my tapes, and 2) there are not so many copies out there that, in my opinion, I have lowered the fair market value of any potential commercial video.
  • Though no one has asked me to promote the band, it is free promotion for the band. If you like what you see on the videos, go buy all of their albums and singles like I did.
  • I am not accepting nor making any money off of this. If you like what you see on my videos, don't send me money - send it to the band or better yet go to the store and buy some of Lush's recordings that you don't have.
  • As many people have told me, I am probably not the kind of person the RIAA are targetting. If I bought a copy of some copyrighted commercially-available video, made a bunch of copies, and then asked people to send me something in return for a copy, I would be in trouble. If I bought a copy of Windows 95, made a bunch of copies, and then asked people to send me something in return for a copy, I would also be in trouble. But I'm not doing that - my video compilations are made from scratch. And once again, as stated in my trading policy, these videos are of high quality, but not of such high quality that it could be sold in stores - so I do not consider it a commercial product, nor a video that could compete with one if it were available.
  • No one has asked me to stop doing this. If someone from Lush, someone representing Lush, or the RIAA contacts me and threatens me to stop giving out copies, I will stop. With that in mind, if you would like a copy of a videotape and are not out to get me in trouble (via entrapment), e-mail me for a copy now; I am probably not doing this forever, though I will love Lush and their music forever.

Blackout - Starlust - For Love - Lit Up - Undertow - The Childcatcher - Kiss Chase - Light from a Dead Star - Lovelife - Downer - De-Luxe - Baby Talk - Hypocrite - Desire Lines - Sweetness and Light - Miki signs autographs.
Bill S. says: This show is a real find! The audio is poor, the video is only fair, there's often some heads blocking the view, and the performance is very rough (Miki even apologizes for it). However, none of that really matters, because the cameraman is close to the front of the stage, and there are many long extreme close-ups of Miki throughout the show, from head to toe and everything in between. At various points you can see close-ups of the set list taped to the floor, her effects pedals, guitar, and even a tight shot of her bra strap. There’s lots of close-ups on her face while she sings. This video has become my second-favorite after the San Francisco 1996 show at the Fillmore.

1994.08.11 - The Abyss, Houston, Texas
Blackout - Starlust - Lit Up - For Love - Childcatcher - Kiss Chase - Light From A Dead Star - Lovelife - Hypocrite - Undertow - De-Luxe - Downer - Baby Talk - Desire Lines - Sweetness And Light - Leaves Me Cold (71 minutes)
Probably the most popular live video in circulation. Good quality all around.

1996.04.03 - Electric Ballroom, Camden, UK
    Heavenly Nobodies - Childcatcher - Lovelife - 500 - Single Girl - Kiss Chase - De-Luxe - Light From A Dead Star - Undertow - Hypocrite - Runaway - Sweetness And Light - Ladykillers - Last Night - For Love - Demystification

    1996.05.06 - Odeon, Cleveland, Ohio
    Heavenly Nobodies - Childcatcher - Lovelife - 500 - Single Girl - Kiss Chase - De-Luxe - Light From A Dead Star - Undertow - Hypocrite - Runaway - For Love - Sweetness And Light - Last Night - Ladykillers - Ciao! (70 minutes)
Decent show with overall good camerawork (some shaky spots) and fair audio quality. Thanks to John K for the info.

    1996.06.06 - Providence, Rhode Island
soundcheck/arrival - Heavenly Nobodies - The Childcatcher - Lovelife - 500 - Single Girl - Kiss Chase - Thoughtforms - Hypocrite - Runaway - For Love - Sweetness And Light - Ladykillers - Last Night - De-Luxe (65 minutes) An outdoor show shot at Waterplace Park as part of WBRU 95.5 FM's Summer Concert Series. Audio is a little distorted (especially bass). Shot from very far back from the stage but with a decent zoom lens. Heads are often in the way, especially when people are standing. Nice scenery though.

1996.09.06 - The Edge, Palo Alto, California
    Heavenly Nobodies - Childcatcher - Lovelife - 500 - Single Girl - Downer - Kiss Chase (cut) - De-Luxe - Light From A Dead Star - Last Night - Hypocrite - Runaway - For Love (cut) - Ladykillers - Desire Lines - Sweetness And Light - Thoughtforms - Demystification (70 minutes)
Whoever put this show together put in freeze frames and digital effects, and didn't have a very good view of the stage for most of the show. Annoying to watch in my opinion.

1996.09.07 - The Fillmore, San Francisco, California
    Heavenly Nobodies - Childcatcher - Lit Up - 500 - Single Girl - Downer - Kiss Chase - De-Luxe - Light From A Dead Star - Last Night - Hypocrite - Runaway - For Love - Ladykillers - Ciao! - Sweetness And Light (72 minutes)
